Fentanyl is a very different drug to alcohol in terms of speed-to-dependency and ease of deadly overdose. I’d bet that making it legally available - and thus more socially normalised - would create even more victims than the status quo

It’s super easy to get Fentanyl *right now*. People buy it in open air drug markets in SF and take it right in front of you in broad daylight! They don’t even try to hide. I see this almost every time I drive to Twitter. Just as with alcohol prohibition, people didn’t actually stop drinking, but they did start drinking badly made alcohol (Moonshine), which could be poisonous, depending on how it was made and what contaminants were present. The strength of Fentanyl means that even a small dosage increase can be fatal. People are rarely trying to commit suicide, but they can easily inadvertently take too much. Therefore, it seems likely to me that pharma-grade quality and precise dosage will dramatically reduce deaths. A limited time and location test of this policy is worth trying, as our current approach is failing badly.

This looks highly suspect, and worthy of more attention than it's gotten. It now seems clear that dozens of agents and multiple agencies were involved in egging on extremists. "It's classified," is not a good enough answer - our democracy needs details to rebuild trust.

SHOCK: The DoJ now admits that another 40 undercover agents were with the Proud Boys on J6 - from HSI - Homeland Security Investigations. The vast majority of the group was paid by the government as either W2 employees or CHS.

We’re enabling users to post long articles & earn income from subscribers, but we’re not excluding other media. Substack was temporarily categorized as “unsafe” when we discovered that they were illegally downloading vast amounts of data to pre-populate their Twitter clone.
